2. January 1 vs. Boston

The Winter Classic! This one is too obvious. A 2013 Stanley Cup Final rematch. Notre Dame. It all lines up. The Blackhawks are trying to buck the stereotypes. “Chicago doesn’t do well in outdoor games.” That’s accurate, for the most part. The Winter Classic hasn’t been kind.

Does that change this year? It’s a fun matchup we don’t get often enough and these teams are very different from their last big series showdown.

Will the young guns steal the show or do old rivals take hold at center stage? New Year’s Day is one of the most interesting days in hockey.

Five years ago this week that Stanley Cup Final matchup ended in a matter of 17 seconds. One Cup later and a bit of a slow stretch for the Bruins and this Boston team has the juice again. After struggling against the Lightning in a five game bouncing from the second round of the playoffs I expect a lot more from them this upcoming season.

If the Blackhawks are indeed better, which isn’t hard, than last season then I expect fun meetings including this seasonal gem. These two played back to back home and away in 2017-18 and split with each winning on home ice. This year one of those won’t be home ice, technically.
