If Cousins walks and the Pelicans truly wanted to re-sign him and can’t erase the blueprint of a modern twin towers from their imaginations, then they could throw away what money they have on the likes of Enes Kanter, Derrick Favors or Jusuf Nurkic. But none of these options make sense, especially with Nikola Mirotic on board for one more season.

Whether the Pelicans re-sign Cousins or not, they need to load up on as many 3-and-D players as they can, and they need to do so at bargain prices.

The road to improvement really is narrow, possibly no wider than the space between Anthony Davis’ eyebrows. If he can’t find another level beyond the stratosphere he’s already playing in, then the team probably can’t either. Then again, knowing that, maybe they should just reach for the tweezers and clone another Brow. A much easier task would be to sign Cousins.
