Of all the picks, this one hurt me the most. Sure, Klay Thompson doesn’t yet have the track record of Reggie Miller but he’s already a better shooter and waaaaay better defender. Maybe it’s a childhood disdain for all things Miller tainting my viewpoint. Maybe there is no wrong answer here. Maybe the cucumbers taste better pickled. I dunno. What I do know is one person voted for Robert Horry and that makes me happy.
Rory Masterson broke down his reasons why:
“I’m not going to lie – it is definitely a bit of a bias thing, because I was a huge Big Shot Rob fan growing up. I loved how he would always pop up at the right times and knock down the clutch shots, but I also think that tendency sort of underrated him as an otherwise big and versatile forward. Nevermind that he played next to some of the best players of his time – Hakeem, Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, etc. – which also diluted his skill to people at times, I think.
Also, Reggie Miller is an agent of misery, even in his post-playing NBA existence, and Klay Thompson – who I nevertheless adore, despite his presence on a soul-crushing squad – is an All-Star who is also the fourth-best player on maybe the greatest NBA team ever assembled. I just didn’t want Horry to be forgotten, basically.”
