The Atlanta Hawks have reportedly been in contact with free agent shooting guard Zach LaVine.

Since being traded to the Chicago Bulls as a piece in the Jimmy Butler blockbuster of 2017, Zach LaVine has been looking more and more like a capable starter in the NBA. He is one of the more intriguing available young talents this 2018 offseason.

Coming off an ACL tear that sidelined him the remainder of the 2016-17 season as well as the beginning of last, LaVine put up a 16/3/3 24 game season. That isn’t too bad for a guy who’s biggest tool is his explosiveness.

We all know about his creativity in the air, he’s a two-time dunk contest champion who threw down quite a few of the best dunks ever seen in arguably the best dunk showdown of all-time.

Among other teams, the Atlanta Hawks have reportedly been in talks with the 6 foot 5 one/two guard. I mean how exciting would a Trae Young/Zach Lavine backcourt be? Monster dunks, tight crossovers, and deep 3s are pretty much 90% of the highlights of basketball.

The Hawks would instantly become a fun team to watch, which is something they’ll REALLY need to be considering they’ll undoubtedly be one of, if not the worst teams in the association this season.

Plus, what do they have to lose? The Hawks can afford to take a risk on LaVine despite his recent knee surgery without risking messing up any future plans. It’s simple why, their future is very far past the expiration date of whatever deal LaVine would sign anyways.

There’s plenty of teams who would love to have a player like LaVine on their team, he’s also received interest from the Kings and Chicago Bulls. Not many teams need the ticket sales his dunks will bring like the Atlanta Hawks though.
