MLB Trade Deadline 2018: One player on each team likeliest to be dealt
By Brad Weiss
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim: Ian Kinsler
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim play in the AL West, which has been dominated by the Houston Astros for the last few seasons. Under manager Mike Scioscia, the Angels were a very competitive team early on, but the team has made the playoffs in only one season since 2009.
Despite having arguably the best player in Major League Baseball in Mike Trout, and a solid ace in Tyler Skaggs, the Angels once again find themselves more than ten games out of first place in the division. They are playing better than .500 baseball, but with the injury bug catching up to them, they may be out of this thing before you know it.
If there was one player who could be dealt by this team during the trade deadline, it would be second baseman Ian Kinsler. A free agent after this season, Kinsler is having one of his worst seasons at the plate of his solid career, as he is batting under .220 as the everyday second baseman for the Angels.
A .271 career hitter, Kinsler has not hit for a high average this season, but he has shown some nice pop with the home run, blasting 11 of them through July 1. He also has committed only two errors all season for the Angels, and with his postseason experience, he is a valuable trade chip this month.
The Angels could still make a run to the Wild Card, so they may decide to stand pat with the lineup they currently trot onto the field. However, if they do decide to make a move, some team could give up a couple good prospects for the 36-year of two-bagger.
