Atlanta Braves: Brandon McCarthy

When the 2018 Major League Baseball season kicked off, there were not many experts who gave the Atlanta Braves a chance to win the NL East. Well, here we are in July, and the Braves are in sole possession of first place in the division, and they only seem to be getting better every day.

This is a very young roster, but that has not stopped the kids from coming up to The Show and performing at a very high level. The team also is dominating the All Star voting, as guys like Nick Markakis, Freddie Freeman, and Ozzie Albies could all be starters in the game.

When it comes to the trade deadline, the Braves may be active as they try to add pieces for a serious run through the MLB Playoffs. Atlanta has a bunch of live, young arms in their rotation, but they may be able to get some good assets for veteran Brandon McCarthy.

McCarthy was just placed on the disabled list, but he does not expect it to be a long stint there. In his 15 games that he has started, McCarthy has an earned run average near 5.00, so it is not like he is a starter that is deemed untouchable in any way.

Atlanta is here to stay, and with all the young prospects they have in their farm system, they are going to be a menace for any team in the NL East for years to come. McCarthy could give them some pieces they need to make this run, and being a Brave for only one year, his ties to the organization are minimal.
