San Francisco Giants: Hunter Pence

The San Francisco Giants have had a nice run of playing great baseball over the last nine years, winning three World Series titles. Manager Bruce Bochy has carved out a Hall of Fame career during his time in the Bay Area, and will go down as one of the legendary managers in team history.

The 2017 season was one that the entire franchise would like to forget, as the team won only 64 games, and finished in last place in the NL West. The 2018 campaign got off to a terrible start as well, as ace Madison Bumgarner broke his hand on a comebacker during Spring Training.

Despite the injury to Bumgarner, the Giants have tread water, and find themselves over .500 as we enter July. The Giants currently sit in second place in the division, and with Mad Bum back on the rubber every fifth day, you have to think this team is going to make a serious run towards the division title this summer.

When it comes to the roster, one player who the team could send away in a trade would be outfielder Hunter Pence. Sure, Pence has had some huge moments as a member of the Giants, but he is having a terrible season, and he will be a free agent this Winter.

Pence has the pedigree to bring back something solid in return, and with a crowded outfield, the Giants could afford to send him packing. Pence is a career .280 hitter, so his .204 batting average is quite alarming. In addition, he has yet to put one over the fence, so his time as a real contributor for this team could be coming to an end.
