Cleveland Indians: Jason Kipnis

The Cleveland Indians are once again in first place in the AL Central, but that is mostly due to the fact that the entire division has been trash this season. The Indians have really underachieved this season, but if they can get their ducks in a row, they should be a formidable contender this Fall.

Manager Terry Francona is one of the best in the game, and you have to think he can get them ready to go when the games really start to mean something later in the year. When it comes to the roster, the Indians have a lot of the pieces in place to make a run, but one player could be used to bring in some quality assets.

Jason Kipnis has been one of the faces of this organization for quite some time now, and he has been a nice cost-effective second baseman for the team. While he has been heating up as of late, he is in the middle of a very tough season, and at 31-years old, he may not be in the plans for the team long-term.

There are a lot of teams who are weak at second base, and Kipnis could certainly bring some nice pieces in return. Jose Ramirez has the talent to be the everyday second baseman for the Indians, and he recently signed a five-year extension with the team back 2017.

Kipnis is a huge part of this organization, and some may feel it is blasphemy to even consider trading him away during a pennant race. The bottom line is, he has struggled mightily this season, and there are serious questions as to whether or not he will ever show the kind of production that he did back from 2012-16.
