  • 2× Unanimous All-American (2007, 2008)
  • 2× First-team All-Big 12 (2007, 2008)

Michael Crabtree was only a two-star recruit according to Scout.com and ranked 240th overall according to Rivals.com. In spite of being so unheralded coming into college, he had the best ever freshman season for a wide receiver in 2007 when he finished with 1,962 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns. His total yards from that season rank third all-time in NCAA history and his 150.9 yards per game rank third all-time.

NCAA Freshman Records-

  • Most passes caught by a freshman, season: 134
  • Most passes caught by a freshman, per game: 10.3
  • Most yards gained by a freshman, season: 1,962
  • Most yards gained by a freshman, per game: 150.9
  • Most games gaining 100 yards or more by a freshman, season: 11
  • Most touchdown passes caught by a freshman: 22

After becoming the first freshman ever to win the Biletnikoff Award, he followed it by winning the award again and putting up another 1,165 yards and 19 touchdowns to finish his two-year career with 231 catches for 3,127 yards and 41 touchdowns.

Bonus Fact: Crabtree’s 41 touchdowns were also the most a player has ever had during his freshman and sophomore seasons and the 243 catches he and Danny Amendola combined for in 2007 were the most ever by two teammates in a season.
