Mayfield started his college career at Texas Tech where he was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2013. After transferring to Oklahoma as a walk-on, he beat out returning starter Trevor Knight, who was coming off of a Sugar Bowl MVP performance in a win over Alabama.
In three seasons starting in Norman, Mayfield threw for 12,005 yards, ran for another 1,083, and accounted for 135 total touchdowns. He finished in the top-four in Heisman voting in all three seasons, eventually winning the trophy as a senior in 2017. He led not just the Big 12 but all of division one football in pass completion percentage, passing efficiency, and yards per attempt for three straight seasons.
Baker was 34-6 as a starter at Oklahoma and 39-9 including the games he started as a freshman at Texas Tech. He had two games with over 500 passing yards, five games with over 400 yards, and 24 with over 300 yards. The only things he really struggled with in college were planting flags on turf fields and making obscene gestures during pre-game warm-ups.
Bonus Stat: Mayfield finished his career with 29 straight games completing over 53-percent of his passes and only had two games in that span below 63 percent.
