Draftkings fantasy golf picks: British Open 2018
10,000 and above
Dustin Johnson ($11,300)
If Dustin Johnson is playing, bet on him to be the most expensive player on DraftKings, but deservedly so. He’s the No. 1 in the world and it’s not really close. He just comes out in every tournament that he plays in and seemingly finds himself in contention to win the whole darn thing. It may be boring, but we could well see that same thing happen at the British Open this weekend.
Rory McIlroy ($11,000)
With McIlroy (and the next guy that we’ll talk about), we know how good he can be when everything is clicking. What’s been frustrating though is that things haven’t been clicking with any kind of consistency so far this season. On top of that, Carnoustie really doesn’t appear to be the type of course that the Northern Irishman excels at, which makes his price point a tough one to swallow.
Jordan Spieth ($10,600)
Spieth is the defending champion at The Open and one of the best players in the world when he’s right. The issue with his price at this point on DraftKings though is that he hasn’t been right this season, especially of late with two missed cuts in his last three times out in a tournament. When you throw in his struggles putting, I don’t like his chances too much this week.
Justin Rose ($10,200)
Rose’s 2018 season is without a doubt the best in golf this year and perhaps one of the most impressive feats in recent memory. He has an absurd 12 top-10 finishes to his name this year, and comes into Carnoustie playing great golf. He won the Fort Worth, went T6 at the Memorial, T10 at the U.S. Open and then T9 last week at the Scottish Open. He might be in better form than anyone in the world right now and he could be worth the money.
Justin Thomas ($10,000)
No missed cuts, a brief stint as the No. 1 player in the world, two wins and six top-10 finishes is one heck of a season for Thomas coming into the British Open. However, he’ll certainly be looking to add the Claret Jug to his trophy case. His T8 at the French Open is the last time he played, and we know that he can go low every time that he takes the course.
