2. Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers ended a seven-game losing streak on Saturday, and they are 2-8 in their last 10 games. But the Chicago Cubs are only 2.5 games clear in the NL Central entering Sunday. Milwaukee is lined up to make some moves at the trade deadline. as they try to get the division lead back, or at least stay atop a tightly-contested Wild Card race.

Much of the trade speculation surrounding the Brewers has involved Manny Machado, or other infielders to address a need there. But starting pitching is arguably a bigger need, and they reportedly had a scout at Archer’s first start back off the disabled list on July 9.

Our friends at Reviewing The Brew took a stab at putting together a trade package for Archer.

With all the factors working to drive up the asking price for him, the Rays would get Milwaukee’s No. 1 (2B Keston Hiura), No. 4 (RHP Luis Ortiz), No. 13 (RHP Cody Ponce) and No. 17 prospects (1B/OF Jake Gatewood) in the hypothetical trade package, as ranked by MLB Pipeline.

That’s a high price to pay. But it would be the kind of offer that would stand out above others, and quite possibly bring Archer to Milwaukee.
