2. Mitchie Brusco throws down a huge 1080 in the X Games Big Air competition

Spinning and huge air are the traits that the X Games Big Air competition was built from. Back when the high flying legends of the skateboard world first took on the Big Air ramp fans were lining up to see the biggest tricks they could imagine. Solidifying himself among the greats of the sport like Danny Way and Bob Burnquist is now Mitchie Brusco.

Brusco is quickly making a name for himself as the next big thing in high flying skateboarding. Competing at the 2018 X Games both Vert and Big Air, Brusco knows what he has to do in order to wow the fans, and during his Big Air run, he did just that.

Brusco was coming into his fourth run in ninth place. He had tried the 1080 spin on a prior run without success. He knew he needed to land that 1080 in order to have a shot at the podium. Leading off with a massive kickflip backside 180 over the gap. The speed he gets following that gap leads him so far up the quarterpipe that he is able to spin 1080 degrees and land flush on the bottom.

As soon as Brusco landed that trick he was overwhelmed with emotion, knowing that he had just achieved one of his longtime goals. He had never won gold prior to 2018; he had two silvers and four bronze medals on his shelf coming into Minnesota in 2018. After this weekend, he can now add a gold and another bronze.
