1. Cashman still has his best prospects

With all due respect to the players the Yankees have dealt over the last 72 hours, none of them were considered to be extremely valuable by Cashman. Dillon Tate was the team’s No. 9 prospect which makes him the highest-touted prospect that’s been moved so far.

Really high-ceiling prospects like Justus Sheffield and Estevan Florial are still in the Yankees organization at the moment. That gives Cashman a ton of ammunition left in his arsenal. If he sees a real difference-maker become available, he’s still got the prospect talent and depth to outbid his competitors.

This doesn’t mean Cashman is going to be giving premium prospects away. He clearly places a lot of value on young, controllable pieces who may join the Yankees starting lineup in the near future. Players like Sheffield and Florial will only be moved if New York can require a legitimate superstar in return. The team’s strong preference would be to acquire an All-Star player who is still under multiple years of team control.

Again, that’s a big ask, but it only takes one player to come available to set the wheels in motion. If the Mets suddenly make deGrom available you can count on the Yankees making an extremely compelling offer. The same could be said for several other high-ceiling players who could shake loose in the coming days.

Next. Three under-the-radar starters the Yankees may target. dark

If you think the Yankees are done making moves you don’t know Cashman or the organization very well. This team wants to make a World Series run and may need more talent to get there. Don’t rule out the team making another move(s) until the deadline has actually passed.
