4. Who plays third and fourth line center?

This could perhaps be the biggest question for Philadelphia going into the season. Assuming they keep Giroux on the wing, their top two centers will be Couturier and Patrick. After that, it gets dicey as Valtteri Filppula left to go to the Islanders via free agency.

There’s been some talk from Ron Hextall that Jordan Weal could move to one of those spots. He’s spent time on the left wing and had eight goals and 21 points this past season. Scott Laughton could also potentially slide up as he’s also mainly been a winger in Philadelphia.

As for fourth-line center, the favorite could be Jori Lehtera. He was acquired from the Blues in the Brayden Schenn trade and only had three goals and eight points last season. It was the worst season of his career as he had 22 points the season before in St. Louis.

They also could promote Mikhail Vorobyev who played for their AHL team last season or even Morgan Frost who was a first round pick from last season. When training camp opens, all eyes will be on what happens with these two positions.
