With J.T. Barrett now gone after starting for most of the last four seasons, the Buckeyes will be breaking in a new signal caller in 2018. Haskins had been the favorite to take over and he did enough this spring to beat out rising junior Joe Burrow, who has since transferred to LSU and will be eligible to play immediately.

Haskins came to Ohio State in 2016 as a four-star recruit and one of the top pro-style quarterbacks in his class. At 6-foot-3, 200-pounds he has an NFL arm and is at his best sitting back in the pocket but he’s also athletic enough to make plays with his legs and to make throws on the run when he’s forced out of the pocket.

As a freshman in 2017, Haskins played sparingly but looked impressive when the opportunities came, completing 40-of-57 passes (including several drops) for 565 yards, four touchdowns and only one interception. He’ll have a talented running back in J.K. Dobbins to take pressure off of him and several experienced wide receivers at his disposal.

Urban Meyer takes decent quarterbacks and makes them great. He takes great quarterbacks and wins national championships. Dwayne Haskins is likely the latter so expect a big year out of the sophomore in 2018.
