1. Cleveland Indians

The Indians have raced out to an impressive eight game lead in the AL Central. Of course, it also happens to be the weakest division in baseball. The Tribe are only nine games over .500 at the current point in time.

If they want to make noise in the postseason, they need to acquire a big bat like Harper. Outfield also happens to be a massive need for Cleveland. Greg Allen and Brandon Guyer are both below-average starters at the moment. Putting Harper in either player’s place would give the Indians’ lineup a massive boost.

The calculation Cleveland has to make is whether or not they really believe Harper is enough to put them over the top. Even with the talented slugger, their lineup doesn’t measure up to the other teams they will likely face in October.

Then again, we’ve definitely seen weaker teams find a way to make a magical run to the World Series. Harper has the talent and ability to get hot and carry a team all the way to a title. The Indians might be tempted to take a big swing to see if they can bring a World Series to Northeast Ohio. Trading for Harper might soften the blow of losing LeBron James for Cleveland fans.
