20. Indiana Pacers

Finals Appearances: 1

Championships: 0

All-Time Starting Five

G: Victor Oladipo, 2017-18

F: Danny Granger, 2008-09
F: Paul George, 2013-14
C: Jermaine O’Neal, 2003-04

Average PER: 21.24

In a year where the Pacers looked certain to bottom out and truly rebuild for the first time since the 1980s, they won 48 games and took the Eastern Conference champs to seven games.

You could argue Oladipo had the best regular season of any Pacer ever and fans had legitimate reason to ride the exciting surprise all year. Moving forward, fans will expect more.

The Pacers have been here many times before, better than the field but far from the favourite. Miller went to the conference finals six times, George led units that got there twice. Kevin Pritchard may need to orchestrate one more ‘Pritch slap‘ if his team wants to hop into the contender bracket.
