Championships: 2

All-Time Starting Five

G: Chris Paul, 2017-18
G: James Harden, 2017-18
F: Tracy McGrady, 2004-05
C: Moses Malone, 1981-82
C: Hakeem Olajuwon, 1994-95

Average PER: 25.98

It’s a shame fans never got Olajuwon vs. Jordan at the summit. The Dream was unstoppable during the Rockets back-to-back titles in 1994 and 1995, besting Hall of Famers like Robinson, Ewing, and O’Neal over the two year run.

The Rockets had their best team on paper in 2017-18, a franchise-best 65 wins and it was derailed at the absolute last moment by an injury bug and an ungodly amount of missed triples.

A lack of good fortune is something McGrady and Yao Ming could definitely relate to.

Ming, Olajuwon, Ralph Sampson, and Malone all found various levels of success with the franchise but today the Rockets are leaning on their perimeter.
