The Detroit Pistons three-peat 1988-90 if Thomas doesn’t bust his ankle. A team that bested Magic Johnson’s Lakers and sent Jordan packing three years in a row should warrant endless praise.
‘The Goin’ to Work’ Pistons were a beautiful second act for Detroit fans who also saw the ‘Bad Boys’ in their prime. Billups, Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, Rip Hamilton, and Tayshaun Prince went to the Conference Finals six straight years. There was only a two-year window between those Pistons and team James where the conference finals didn’t have a team booked-in.
The Pistons are running behind two big-men in a league running away from traditional sets. After being scapegoated by the Raptors, it’ll be interesting to see if Dwane Casey can get the Pistons back to prominence.
