Surprised the Kings made it this far? You’re not alone. David Stern is choking on a water bottle as we speak.

The Kings have a title! Granted, it was the BAA and the year was 1951.

Since then, things have been relatively grim. Robertson didn’t win in Cincinnati, Archibald didn’t win in Kansas City, and Mitch Richmond didn’t win in Sacramento. (They all went on to win elsewhere. *Looks at Cousins in Golden State.*)

The Kings have been rebuilding for 12 years, George W. Bush was the president the last time they were in the playoffs. The Kings have storage units full of former first-round picks but their rise to relevance still feels far off.
