One of the bigger surprises of the 2017 NFL regular season was the play of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Coming into the season, there were few experts who could have predicted that they would be the team the New England Patriots had to get past in the AFC Championship Game to get to the Super Bowl, but that is exactly what ended up happening.

During the offseason, the team made a commitment to Blake Bortles on a long-term deal, which means he is officially their quarterback of now, and the future. When it came time to add other pieces this offseason, they only had to bring in some complimentary players, as their roster is ready for another run through the playoffs.

Jacksonville has done a nice job in recent years in building up their defense, whether it be by drafting players like Jalen Ramsey, or adding free agents like A.J. Bouye. In fact, their secondary is one of the stronger units in the AFC, and during the 2018 NFL Draft, they added a hard-hitting safety that just may take the NFL by storm.

Ronnie Harrison is fresh off being named a First-Team All-SEC selection last season, as he helped Alabama to their second College Football Playoff National Championship during his time at the school. He plays with an incredible chip on his shoulder, and could find his way into the starting lineup if he can get past either Barry Church or Tashaun Gipson.

The bottom line is, the Jaguars are for real, but it will be interesting to see if Bortles can get them over the hump this season. If Harrison does crack the starting lineup, he could end up being one of the best safeties in the AFC South.
