1. Kent Bazemore

Bazemore is far from a perfect player, but he’s the best option the Rockets have to acquire via this set of distressed assets. If Houston can convince the Hawks to take this deal, they should rush to schedule the trade call with the league.

Bazemore isn’t a defensive stopper, but he has more size and physicality than Smith or Johnson. He’s the only guy in this trio who has a real opportunity to guard threes and fours on occasion. That defensive versatility should make him hugely attractive to the Rockets.

On the offensive end, he’s a career 36% shooter from downtown who flirted with shooting 40% last season. He isn’t afraid to take shots from distance either. His willingness to take, and ability to make threes at a high volume makes him a great fit for D’Antoni’s offensive system.

Bazemore is really the only no-brainer move for the Rockets on this list. He would immediately move into the starting lineup and would greatly lessen the need for Houston to depend on James Ennis and Carmelo Anthony. That, in and of itself, should be enough motivation for Morey to try to get a deal over the line with Atlanta.
