The St. Louis Blues have done a lot to improve themselves this summer, but they still face several issues as the regular season draws near.

The St. Louis Blues got off to a very strong start in October and November last season. By mid-March, it appeared they had a playoff spot all but locked up. However, a borderline historic swoon saw them lose five of their final six games (four of them in regulation) to barely miss the postseason.

Following the awful collapse, the Blues got serious. They’ve added a number of pieces to an already impressive roster. On paper, the Blues have the deepest roster they’ve iced in years. St. Louis traditionally doesn’t get too active in free agency, but they made several huge splashes by signing Tyler Bozak and (once again) bringing back David Perron.

Though the Blues have significantly improved their outlook going into the 2018-19 season, they still face some significant issues. They’ll have to face these burning questions and answer them if they want to win the first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

5. Can Robby Fabbri (And Everyone Else) Stay Healthy?

Last season, the Blues couldn’t stay healthy. Early on, they were able to overcome these injuries. But eventually, they ran out of luck and started slumping. Though the Blues had success with guys injured, it would obviously behoove them to stay healthy, even with a deeper roster.

No player’s health is more important to them than Robby Fabbri. He hasn’t played since February of 2017 thanks to a knee injury. Though Fabbri was supposed to return to start the 2017-18 season, complications caused him to miss the entire season.

It’s reasonable to question if the Blues will ever see him healthy again. After all, knee injuries have been the cause of the end of countless careers. However, if the Blues can get a healthy, dynamic Fabbri back, that would be huge for them. St. Louis will likely rely on him, along with Tyler Bozak, to transform the third line into one capable of scoring.
