John Cena, who’s been inactive for quite some time now, has announced on his Twitter that he is scheduled to return to WWE’s live event in China this September.

Despite being out of action for over three months, John Cena has continued to be a relevant figure in the wrestling world, mainly due to his involvement with Nikki Bella on Total Bellas.

However, when it comes to wrestling in the ring, Cena has kept a low-profile since his last match at the Greatest Royal event in Saudi Arabia. There was much speculation on whether or not Cena would be returning to WWE programming soon, especially considering Summerslam is just right around the corner.

While this news doesn’t indicate when he may return to WWE TV, it’s worth noting that Cena recently announced on his official Twitter account he will be returning to WWE’s live event in Shanghai, China.

With Cena wrestling on a part-time basis, Cena himself may feel that he has nothing else left to do in the WWE, as he’s been able to branch out into the acting scene in Hollywood.

Especially considering the WWE has been positioning Roman Reigns as the current “face” of the company, it comes to a point where Cena has phased himself out of that picture, which explains the multiple clean losses Cena went through over the past year against wrestlers like Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Shinsuke Nakamura.

However, with rating going on a downward spiral in WWE and the star-credibility that Cena has, WWE should try to get Cena to appear as much as he can if they can find something for him to do that can get fans invested in. If Cena does show up soon, make it feel that it’s worth something to watch, instead of turning it into a complete afterthought.
