Joel Embiid learned nothing from Disney movies, puts his trust in a lion.

Joel Embiid made a new friend while in South Africa.

Embiid’s facial expressions are a movie in 10 seconds. At first, he just can’t wait to be king as the lion cuddles up next to him. Soon, the lion betrays his unconditional trust and turns on him. Finally, the Sixers star is ready to extract revenge on his newfound enemy. If you want to know how the battle between Simbiid and Scar ends, head down to your local video store and rent The Lion King.

The native of Cameroon had a slightly better time on the court as part of the NBA Africa Game 2018. Embiid led Team Africa with 24 points and seven rebounds. Team Africa came up short to Team America, 96-92, but at least no one on the opposing team bit him on the arm.

Clamping Embiid with teeth might be the only way to stop the Sixers center this season. Coming off a season in which he averaged 22.9 points and 11 rebounds, Embiid has his eyes set on the MVP award in 2018-19. During a media conference call Embiid said, “I want to win the MVP. I feel like at the end of the day it might be an individual award, but when I play better, the team also does. I feel like if I’m an MVP candidate or if I win the MVP, that means we are on another level.”

Given the pettiness level of Embiid, this lion bite is only going to fuel his MVP quest. You know he wants to bring the MVP trophy back to Africa next offseason and rub it in the lion’s face.
