4. Luke List

The 33-year-old List is enjoying a career resurgence on the PGA Tour this year. After finishing runner-up at the 2004 U.S. Amateur to Ryan Moore, List initially struggled to find a place on the pro tours. He didn’t become a full-time member on the Tour until 2016.

That has changed this year. He has five top 10s in 25 events played this season, including a playoff loss to Justin Thomas at the Honda Classic in February. He also finished third at the RBC Heritage and seventh at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. After beginning the year ranked 180th on the World Golf Rankings, List has risen all the way to 47th coming into the PGA Championship

A long hitter like List will have a big advantage at Bellerive this week. He ranks fourth on tour this year in driving distance, third in strokes gained: off the tee and fifth in strokes gained: tee to green. He also has a solid short game, ranking 15th. He will need to use his length and short game to get close to the hole locations this week to have a chance, as he is just 172nd in putting.

List has never finished inside the top 30 at a major championship in his career. He was 39th at the Open Championship three weeks ago. He missed the cut in his only PGA Championship appearance last year.
