Chelsea could have new keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal by the time they travel to Huddersfield for the season opener. After selling off Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid, they doubled their expenditure on a less-tested goalkeeper with high upside.
The Spanish keeper spent a year and a half as the number 1 at Athletic Bilbao, and he should settle in easily against Huddersfield. On the strength of that year and a half, Arrizabalaga was bought with the world-record transfer fee for a goalkeeper of £71 million. Now on a seven-year deal at the club, the hope is that Kepa grows into leadership and becomes a club institution for the rest of his career.
That will be a strong possibility given the opponents. For their part, the hosts of this Premier League encounter missed relegation by just four points last season. Huddersfield seems like an unlikely source to deal out a defeat to Chelsea at the opening of the season.
But in the unlikely event that it does happen, upsets can sure be a shame to miss. Given that this is the start of a new league year, you won’t want to miss one of the big matches on the opening Saturday of the new campaign.

Expect several goals by Hazard, one by Kanté, and perhaps one unlucky goal preventing Kepa from collecting a clean sheet in his debut with the Blues. Chelsea will win by a scoreline somewhere around 3-1 to claim three points and get into the Premier League title picture early in the season.
