1. Washington Redskins

The fantasy football season took an immediate hit in Week 1.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice’s season is done for the year with an ACL injury suffered in Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

Not only do we lose one of the best rookie players in all of the 2018 draft, but we’ve also lost all sense of what to expect with the Redskins backfield.

Derrius was expected to be the guy, with fellow running back Chris Thompson handling the pass-catching and third-down duties.

Now what?

Well, Rapoport also reported that Redskins head coach Jay Gruden doesn’t expect to add another running back saying, “We have guys here that can play. We drafted Derrius because he was the best player we thought at the time of the draft… not because we weren’t satisfied with the backs we have.”

With that said, New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram might be available and that’s an intriguing fit. That leaves Thompson, Rob Kelley, Samaje Perine, Kapri Bibbs and Byron Marshall on the depth chart.

Thompson is coming off a broken fibula, an injury suffered in Week 11 of the 2017 season. Prior to that, Thompson was an electric PPR option, with six games in which he caught four or more passes. Kelley should get the first crack at being the starter with Perine behind him in Kelley is unable to perform.

However, this is not a situation I’d touch whatsoever.

Perine is currently going in the 12th round and Thompson in the eighth.

Bibbs and Marshall have a better chance to survive and maintain their roster spot with this injury, too.

Verdict: Not interested in Kelley, Perine, Bibbs or Marshall. Still interested in Thompson at his price tag in PPR leagues.
