Bryce Love’s college career began as the backup to current Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey. During the 2015 and 2016 season, Love racked up a little over 1,000 yards rushing, but it was mostly serving as the No. 2 back for the Stanford Cardinal.

Once McCaffrey made his way to the NFL, and it was strictly Love’s backfield to lead, he showed the college football world that he is the best they have entering 2018. In 2017, Love went absolutely crazy on the ground, racking up a Stanford record 2,118 yards, which was the second-most yards of any player in the FBS.

The 2017 Doak Walker Award winner, it took Love only five games to get to the 1,000-yard mark, and he put together back-to-back games over 250 or more yards. In addition, he set the school’s record for most rushing yards in a single game, as his mark of 301 is now the gold standard in program history.

In total, Love took home his fair share of hardware aside from the Doak Walker Award, as he was a unanimous choice to be a First-Team All-American. The Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year, Love had big shoes to fill with McCaffrey going to the NFL, and he more than did that, passing the former star in the Stanford record book.

Love is going to be an exciting player to watch on Sundays at the  next level, but for now, let us enjoy one more season of him running all over defenses in the Pac-12. Expect Love to have a monster season in 2018, and when it is all said and done, be hoisting the Heisman Trophy.
