2. Clemson Tigers – Clelin Ferrell, DE

The Clemson Tigers are looking for a redemption season in 2018. They are coming off a tough loss to Alabama in the playoff semifinal, where they only put up six points. It is likely they will have a quarterback competition this year as Kelly Bryant looked ineffective against the Crimson Tide.

However, whoever the Tigers put in at quarterback, they will have plenty of help. Travis Etienne is primed for a big season, and they continue to put uber-talented wide receivers on the field. Their offensive line isn’t the best in the country, but it gets the job done in a quick strike offense that Clemson likes to deploy.

Shifting over to the defense, the most important unit for this team is their four studs up front. This group has three guys who could have entered the draft in 2018 but decided to come back for one more chance at a second title. On the inside, Dexter Lawrence and Christian Wilkins hold strong against interior linemen, but they can get in the backfield as pass rushers at times.

On the outside, Clelin Ferrell and Austin Bryant lead the charge. It’s hard to determine who of these four is the most valuable since they all bring something to the table. But, if a choice has to be made, it’s Ferrell. Hr is the best pure pass rusher the Tigers have, and his 9.5 sacks led the way in 2017. Without Ferrell, the pass rush on the outside gets thinner.
