Duke freshman sensation Zion Williamson is already making highlight-reel plays and the college basketball season hasn’t even officially started yet.

At 6-foot-7 inches and 285 pounds, Zion Williamson powered through his high school competition with relative ease. A star at Spartanburg Day School in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Williamson became a household name after displaying freakish athleticism over various mixtapes of his highlights. With the spread of his video highlights, mostly of ferocious dunks, Williamson committed to Duke in January of this year, adding to an already historic recruiting class for the program.

As Duke has been playing in exhibition games this summer, Williamson has wasted no time reminding us why he was one of the nation’s top recruits. In a clip below, watch Williamson jump so high to block a shot, his elbow went over the rim. The play ended up being a goaltend, but it’s something to marvel at regardless.

What Williamson even more incredible is his measurables. As stated earlier, he’s listed at 6-foot-7 inches and weighs a reported 285 pounds. At his measurables, an athlete shouldn’t sport a 40-inch verticle and be as explosive. Yet, here we are. CBSSports explains just how insane his combination of size and athleticism is.

"Williamson is still expected to be every bit as powerful a dunker in college as he was in high school, but if his new weight is any indication, they should come jam-packed with some extra punch. Originally listed at 275 coming out of high school, the five-star has added 10 pounds to his frame — making him a stout 6-foot-7, 285-pounds on Duke’s online roster. And yet he still has a 40+ inch vertical. And a silky smooth stroke. And is still doing things like jamming from the free-throw line."

Naturally, one would imagine that if Williamson dropped his weight to 260-265 he would be even more capable of explosive plays. But if it isn’t broke, we shouldn’t try to fix it. As the season progresses, we can assess if Williamson at his size is okay. For now, we enjoy the show.
