Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

Eight years in the making and Daniel Bryan and The Miz are finally going to do battle on the big stage. I will say that I was impressed with the three-part series that WWE put together on SmackDown Live this past Tuesday, and yet I still find myself not overly into this whole thing. It’s not that I don’t think it’s going to be a good match, but even after all of this time, it feels a little rushed to me. I still think the original plan was to drag this out to WrestleMania 35, but with Bryan’s contract status still up in the air, I’m sure Vince wanted to get this in just in case DB decides to bolt.

The story is there and it’s great. There was the pro/rookie thing from NXT, the clash on Talking Smack after Bryan retired, The Miz stealing moves and now this Bryan comeback, which has been a bit underwhelming. So the foundation has clearly been set. Now it’s up to these two to deliver, and I do have faith that they will. Again, it’s just that I’m not as interested as I thought I would be for this one, and I can’t exactly pinpoint why that is. But this should be fun and fairly intense.

Prediction: While there have been reports that Bryan actually has signed a new contract, there’s been nothing confirmed by WWE or DB himself. He’s said that he probably would, and given the success of the reality show with his wife, I don’t see him ditching the company. Yes, he would become the hottest free agent in the world, and with the indie scene thriving right now, he could go and work a lighter schedule and make plenty of money. Speaking of reality shows, The Miz and Maryse are doing well in that arena as well, which makes things really interesting when picking the winner here. With the success of the new show, does The Miz pick up the win here? Or does he pick up the win because Bryan is on his way out? There are a lot of pieces to this puzzle, but I do think that Bryan will re-sign with WWE and get the biggest win of this latest comeback.
