Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens

I certainly didn’t expect Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens to feud throughout pretty much the entire summer, but it’s been a pleasant surprise full of entertaining moments. There was the big bump through the table from that monstrous ladder at Money in the Bank and then the bigger bump at Extreme Rules from the top of the steel cage, which actually gave KO the win and helped set the stipulation for their match at SummerSlam.

The twist here is that if Kevin Owens win in any way, he’ll take control of Braun’s Money in the Bank briefcase, which as we all know guarantees the holder a chance to cash in for the world title. In this case, we’d be talking about the WWE Universal Championship as it’s on Monday Night RAW, even though I always thought it would be more interesting to be able to switch shows with it, especially in this new era of dual-branded pay-per-view events. But that’s for another longer discussion.

I don’t see this being a particularly long match — that steel cage match went only about eight minutes — but it’s going to get physical and KO is likely to take another big bump at some point.

Prediction: The big talk is that whomever wins this match is going to cash in at the end of the night, and that certainly may happen, even if that’s not what I’m pulling for. Honestly, it would be fantastic to see Kevin Owens with that MITB briefcase for a while as it would make for great entertainment. However, I don’t see Braun Strowman losing that thing on Sunday. This is a great place for this program to end, and it wouldn’t if Strowman went looking for revenge on Owens for taking his briefcase. So I’ll go with Braun here. More on the possible cash-in later on.
