So which three will get in?

In my opinion, Mayweather and Klitschko are locked in. Floyd is without question, and while Klitschko is not quite as much of a no-brainer, I still feel he is the next most deserving.

That leaves six fighters left with only one spot remaining on the ballot.

For the sake of this argument, let’s assume Bradley, Mosley and Marquez all get in during an earlier year because of the dates of their final fight.

That leaves James Toney, Miguel Cotto and Andre Ward all battling for the last spot. It is an insanely stacked year, because those three would make up a very strong Hall of Fame class just about any other year.

Unfortunately, of those three, Cotto is the easiest to drop.

As for Ward and Toney, it is a tough call. Toney fought for longer, and was a fantastic fighter, but Ward has more quality wins in my opinion. Maybe it is recency bias, but I am giving the nod to Ward this time.

Projected 2022 International Boxing Hall of Fame Class:

Andre Ward, Wladimir Klitschko and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
