10. Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers

There’s absolutely a chance that Garoppolo is exposed as an average NFL quarterback in his first full season as a starter. There’s also a chance that he explodes and becomes one of the top five players at his position. That’s enough to push him up to No. 10 on this list.

Everyone knows the 49ers went undefeated with him as a starter last season. Those were meaningless games for his team, but they were very significant outings for Garoppolo. They served to prove he has the ability to attack NFL defenses down the field with his cannon for an arm.

The biggest question mark about Garoppolo is whether or not he can protect the football. Throwing five interceptions in just 120 passing attempts is not the sort of ratio Kyle Shanahan wants to see. He’ll need to cut that percentage down sharply to lead the 49ers to the playoffs in 2018.

The smart bet is on Garoppolo to throw more interceptions than you would like, but to put up a ton of yards and touchdowns in the process. Expect this season to set him up as one of the top options in the NFL moving forward. 2018 won’t be his career best campaign, but it will give 49ers fans a ton to be excited about for their franchise’s future.
