Denver Broncos – John Elway
The Denver Broncos were established way back in 1959, and played their inaugural season of professional football as a member of the AFL back in 1960. They played in the AFL until the merger in 1970, and since, has been a member of the AFC West.
When it comes to the Broncos, the biggest move they ever made was the trade with the Baltimore Colts for Stanford quarterback John Elway. The Colts took Elway with the No. 1 overall pick in the 1983 draft, but he stated all along that he would not play for them, and he got his way when he was traded to Denver in early May of that year.
Now with the Broncos, Elway led the franchise to multiple Super Bowls, and is regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the game. While he would win back-to-back Super Bowls in the late 1990s, the jersey to have is the one he wore during the years where he lost four Super Bowls.
During the 1986, 87, and 89 seasons, Elway led his Broncos to the big game, only to lose each time. The orange crush jerseys the Broncos wore back then were the sharpest in team history, and brings back memories of guys like Karl Mecklenberg and Steve Atwater, two punishing defenders on defense.
Currently, the Broncos are trying to get out of the cellar in the AFC West, which should once again be one of the better divisions in football this season. They made some nice moves in the offseason, including signing Case Keenum, so it will be interesting to see how their season plays out this Fall.
