New Orleans Saints – Willie Roaf
The New Orleans Saints came into being in 1966, with their first season of professional football coming in 1967. Since then, they have brought home one Super Bowl title to the Bayou, as their run in 2009 was a magical one for the organization.
Outside of that incredible run, nothing can beat the way the Saints took the football world by storm in the 2006 season. With the city of New Orleans reeling from Hurricane Katrina, the Saints finally got back into the Superdome in 2006, after playing in other venues after the storm the year before.
Led by timely plays like the blocked punt by Steve Gleason, the Saints seemed like a team of destiny, and rode that momentum to an NFC South title. They lost in the playoffs, but that season will go down in NFL history as one of the more inspiring runs of all-time.
When it comes to the Saints best throwback jersey, you have to go back to their original jersey from the 1967 season. The classic white jersey with the gold letters is definitely the one to have, and the current team still pays homage to it every season as an alternate uniform.
The Saints have one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history in Drew Brees, whose career has really taken off since heading to Bourbon Street. In 2018, the hope for Saints fans is they can take the next step forward, and they certainly have the horses to be a team to beat this Fall.
