College football 2018 preview: Predicting the first loss for every Top 25 team
I have plenty of thoughts on Urban Meyer, none positive, but it’s not going to change anything and most of what I think has been said at this point.
In spite of everything that’s transpired, the suspension being only three games should keep it from having much of an impact on Ohio State’s season. The only team they play without Meyer is TCU and this team should be able to stand up to the Horned Frogs no matter who is coaching.
Dwayne Haskins looks like another great Buckeye quarterback. The offense has speed, size and athleticism at just about every position, and their defense is built to hold up against any offense in the nation. Like the rest of the Big Ten East teams already mentioned, their success will just come down to how well they handle the three or four really tough games they’ll play.
The Buckeyes play Penn State on the road in Week 5 and Michigan State on the road in Week 10. It sounds counter-intuitive but I think they come away with road wins against both teams, setting up a season finale with Michigan at home with an undefeated season on the line. Patterson and Harbaugh get over the hump, beat Ohio State in the Horseshoe and go to the conference title game to play Wisconsin.
