Predicting when every NHL team will win its next Stanley Cup
By Kyle McKenna
Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins were right in the mix for Stanley Cup dynasty teams such as the Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Kings, after the Bruins were crowned as the 2011 Stanley Cup champions.
The B’s managed to reach the Stanley Cup Final again in 2013, only to lose to the Blackhawks, but the club then restructured its roster and hasn’t advanced past the second round of the playoff since that time. Still, Boston is on the verge of winning another Cup with its window to win a title open for the next four seasons, or so.
Similar to other teams on the verge of potentially winning a Stanley Cup sooner rather than later, Boston’s front office has compiled a solid mix of younger assets with veterans who can still contribute and know what it takes to win in the postseason.
Whether NHL fans alike appreciate him or not, winger Brad Marchand has transformed his game into an MVP caliber forward, and it’s no coincidence that the B’s won 50 games last season for the first time in three years, either.
The young David Pastrnak reminded everyone in 2018 that the Czech Republic can still produce some of the most dynamic point-producers that the NHL has to offer. Pastrnak, 22, netted 35 goals last season and tallied 45 assists. Entering his fifth NHL campaign, don’t be surprised to see the former first-round draft pick (2014) flirt with 90 points.
There’s no way that the B’s win their next Cup without the likes of Zdeno Chara. The 40-year-old has one more year left in the tank and on his contract. Expect Chara to ride off into the sunset with the Stanley Cup and retire after the 2019 season.
