Will Ferrell – LAFC

Will Ferrell is one of Hollywood’s biggest and most recognizable stars, so it makes sense that his favorite soccer team would reside in Tinseltown as well. Ferrell is part owner of LAFC, the newest MLS franchise. He is one of several celebrity owners of the club, along with Mia Hamm and Magic Johnson.

He’s just as much of a fan of LAFC as he is an owner, regularly attending games at Bank of California stadium. He’s made countless appearances on television shows and in the LA area to promote the team. Ferrell’s strategies to drum up interest in the team seemed to have worked well, as LAFC games usually have a spirited and raucous crowd. That crowd creates one of the best atmospheres in the league, a great achievement for what is essentially an expansion team in their first season. LAFC is a revival and rebrand of the now-defunct Chivas USA franchise in MLS.

Ferrell is perhaps most famous for his success in the early-to-mid 2000s. He starred in several acclaimed and beloved comedies, like Anchorman, Old School and Talladega Nights. He even made a film about soccer around this time, Kicking and Screaming, in which he played an overzealous soccer coach.

Before taking an ownership role in LAFC, Ferrell supported Chelsea, attending games at Stamford Bridge and meeting players like Willian and Frank Lampard. If his allegiance to LAFC is anything like his dedication to his beloved USC Trojan football team, LAFC fans have some great moments and memories to look forward to in the coming years.
