2019 NFL Mock Draft: Bills land Nick Bosa at No. 1
By Brad Weiss
The Detroit Lions barely missed out on the playoffs last season, and had they made it, it would have been two straight years in the postseason. Armed with one of the more prolific signal-callers in all of football, Detroit is building a nice team in the Motor City, though they may be one year away from being an actual contender in a very tough NFC North division.
Matthew Stafford is an elite quarterback, that is not a question, and he is surrounded by guys who can really make plays on the offensive side of the ball. When it comes to the defense, they are still looking to add pieces, but they have done a nice job in recent drafts with guys like Jarrad Davis in 2017, and Da’Shawn Hand this past April.
During the 2019 NFL Draft, they should look to add one of Hand’s teammates from Alabama, as Raekwon Davis is a guy who should hear his name called pretty early in the first round. Davis is a high-motor guy, and is a big reason why the Crimson Tide won the National title game against the Clemson Tigers last Winter.
The Lions unfortunately play in a division that has the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings, two teams that are likely to make it to the playoffs this season. The NFC is just too tough to navigate with their roster this season, but with a few more solid choices via the NFL Draft, there is no reason Stafford cannot lead this team back to the playoffs.
