20. player. 42. . Running Back. Stanford. Bryce Love

The San Francisco 49ers solidified their quarterback spot during the 2017 regular season, when they traded with the New England Patriots for Jimmy Garoppolo. All Jimmy G did when inserted into the starting lineup was lead his team to five straight victories, taking the 1-11 49ers, and turning them into a six-win team.

The franchise rewarded Garoppolo with a monster contract this offseason, and then added a stellar running back behind him in Jerrick McKinnon. Unfortunately, McKinnon tore his ACL this past week, and will not be able to help the 49ers get back to the top of the NFC West for the first time in over five years this season.

While McKinnon is a solid running back, and is signed for the next four years, the 49ers would be smart to look in-state and select a runnning back in the first round in April. The first running back off the board in the 2019 NFL Draft should be Bryce Love, who just may run his way to the Heisman Trophy this Fall for Stanford.

Love led the FBS in rushing last season, racking up over 2,100 yards, but was held to under 40 yards in the season opener this past week. Still, he is in for another monster year for the Cardinal, and if he is still available in the first round, the 49ers would be wise to pick up a player with not only his speed, but power from the running back position.
