One of the biggest surprises in the NFL last season was the play of the Los Angeles Rams, who came out of nowhere to win the NFC West under first-year head coach Sean McVay. The youngest head coach in NFL history, McVay earned the respect of not only his team, but also his coaching staff, and is one of the brightest young minds the game today.

Of course, it also helped that second-year quarterback Jared Goff rebounded from a dismal rookie season in a big way. Star running back Todd Gurley was healthy, and the defense was much better than advertised. They added some big names to that defense this offseason, and will be looking to roll under the lights in Oakland this Monday night.

The Rams added Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib to their secondary this summer, as well as Ndamukong Suh to their defensive line. They also locked up elite defensive tackle Aaron Donald long-term, giving them quite the unit on the defensive side of the ball. In the first round in 2019, they should add to that group.

One player who could help their defense immediately in Josh Allen from Kentucky, who is one of the best outside linebacker prospects in this draft class. Allen would be a guy who could come in and start right away on this defense, giving the Rams another extremely athletic guy in the second level of one of the best defenses in all of football.
