Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins are one of five teams (Chicago Blackhawks, Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals) to win the Stanley Cup since 2011, and there a number of top players on the team’s roster that have already won a Stanley Cup.

Yes, forward David Pastrnak is arguably the Bruins’ top skater that hasn’t collected a Stanley Cup ring, but there’s a defenseman that’s been in the league longer and deserves the honor to unfortunately make this list.

Defenseman Tory Krug has been of Boston’s top defensemen since donning a B’s sweater full-time back in 2013-14. Since that time the undrafted blue liner has proven that he’s good for at least 40 points a year and can also help boost Boston’s power play on a nightly basis.

The 27-year-old is fresh off of a career season, after Krug netted 14 goals and collected 45 assists for 59 points in 2018. No. 47 has blossomed into one of the Boston’s top skaters and he’ll eventually find himself back in the conversation for the Norris Trophy in due time.

Most NHL fans may have mistaken Krug as a Stanley Cup champion already, but the Livonia, Michigan native only dressed in two games during the 2010-11 season and didn’t skate with the team in the Stanley Cup Playoffs that spring either.

The chances are that Boston will win another Stanley Cup while Krug is on its roster, so expect him to be eliminated from this conversation sooner rather than later.

Perhaps he’ll end up being the Bruins’ captain one day, too.
