Bet on the Saints to cover

The only reason to worry about this wager is if you think it looks a little too easy. From time to time that happens in NFL betting. We don’t think this is one of those occasions. Instead, follow the simple logic and count on one of the best teams in the NFL to beat up on arguably the worst team in the league.

That means you should take the Saints and give up the 9.5 points required. If you’re feeling really adventurous, feel free to tease the line up a few points and take New Orleans to win a really one-sided game. We wouldn’t take that strategy too far, but something in the 12.5 range would be interesting at the right price.

The over/under is something you should stay away from. Brees and company are going to score a fair amount of points, but there’s no guarantee Fitzpatrick and the Buccaneers will be able to move the ball. If they don’t, it could turn into a pretty easy under. If you’re dead set on going one direction or another, go that way.

In the end, a relatively comfortable Saints victory should be in the cards. The Saints offense might stumble a little bit out of the gate, but it should be up and running by the time the second quarter begins. The play of their defense will be much more interesting. We like them to prey on this undermanned Bucs attack.

Prediction: Saints win 30-13
