2018 Stats: 18 tackles (8 solo), 4 TFL, 1 Pass Def., 6 QB hurries
Next Game: @ Texas Tech

Ed Oliver is probably the best defensive player we’ve seen in college football since Ndamukong Suh, and he keeps making a case for his own Heisman candidacy.

What makes Oliver so great isn’t just the number of tackles he makes or how much pressure he puts on opposing quarterbacks. It’s the fact that offensive coordinators and position coaches have to scheme around him, as well as the rest of the Houston defense.

Trying to contain Oliver and keep him from taking over a game is the primary concern of every opposing coach, and with Texas Tech’s problems on defense, it could be a long day for the Red Raiders this week.

Look for Oliver to really spend some time on the Texas Tech side of the line. He’ll disrupt Kliff Kingsbury‘s offense, which was stymied by Ole Miss in week one…the same Ole Miss defense who just gave up 41 points to Southern Illinois.
