Heisman Watch 2018: Top 5 hopefuls look ahead to Week 3
2018 Stats: 398 yds, 7.8 YPC, 5 TDs
Next Game: vs BYU
Jonathan Taylor has been so good in the first two weeks of the season it’s almost a toss-up between him and (spoiler alert) Will Grier for the number one spot. You really can’t go wrong with either at this point.
Wisconsin running backs seem to always find themselves in the Heisman race, and Taylor is probably among the best we’ve seen since Ron Dayne. Taylor excels at gaining yards after contact and is in the vein of tailbacks who get stronger with more carries.
His near 200-yard per game average probably won’t suffer against BYU, who ranks 83rd in the nation in rush defense, giving up 156 yards per game to backs nowhere near as good as Jonathan Taylor.
We may see Taylor hit 200 yards by halftime.
If the game turns into a laugher, which it may, it’s possible Taylor will be pulled early. That won’t hurt his standing with the media and Heisman voters in the least.
