Heisman Watch 2018: Top 5 hopefuls look ahead to Week 3
2018 Stats: 46 of 60, 761 yds, 9 TD, 1 INT
Next Game: vs Kansas State (9/22)
Will Grier not only has the look of a top Heisman Trophy candidate, he also looks like a quarterback who’ll be taken very early in the NFL Draft.
Grier isn’t just putting up great numbers, he looks the part of a quarterback ready to take the next step. He’s making good decisions, looking poised in the pocket, and his accuracy has been spot-on during the first two games.
Hurricane Florence has canceled the Mountaineers’ game against N.C. State this week, so Grier will have an extra week to rest up and prepare for a Kansas State team who sits 102nd in the nation in total defense – giving up 436 yards per game, 205 per game through the air.
Giving head coach Dana Holgorsen and Grier an extra week to prepare for a subpar defense is a recipe for a blowout. It will be stat-padding time for Grier and a chance to boost his Heisman chances.
Barring any big changes over the next two weeks, Grier should have his way with the Wildcats when they come to Morgantown.
