3. Don’t fall into the Baltimore trap

The Ravens deserve credit for handling their business against the Bills last week. They blew Buffalo off the field and that has Baltimore fans dreaming of another trip to the Super Bowl.

We all need to tap the brakes on the Ravens’ hype train. All they managed to do in Week 1 was blowout the worst team in the NFL. This week’s trip to Cincinnati represents a major step up in competition.

We’re a bit surprised that this is an even bet. You should take the Bengals here to win outright. Their win against the Colts last week will look like a quality win after Indianapolis gets their feet under them. It’s also possible the Bengals found themselves a star in the form of running back Joe Mixon.

The danger here is that the Ravens defense can keep the Bengals offense under wraps. Bet on A.J. Green and Mixon finding a way to make a few big plays. If Andy Dalton can play within himself, then Cincinnati can score just enough points to come out with a key win.

Joe Flacco on the other hand, looks like a great candidate to regress this week. Expect him to struggle with the Bengals’ front four chasing him around. It might be a big day for Geno Atkins and company. The bottom line here is that you should take the Bengals to win at home. This won’t be the week’s prettiest game, but Cincinnati will take an ugly win.
